Project Description

Compost Collective is a community-minded initiative, supported by Auckland Council, to help reduce organic waste from landfill.

We provide composting experts from across the Auckland region, ready to teach you new composting techniques, or help you perfect your existing practice. Composting is a lifestyle habit that is easily adopted and we can show you how simple it really is.

We passionately care about our soil and want to help you make a positive difference in our fine city.

Session 1:  Bokashi Composting Workshop (30 minutes)

Bokashi ‘pickles’ your food waste, unlike traditional composting where waste is allowed to decay. The Bokashi system produces nutrient-rich compost that you can dig into your garden.

I will go through a step by step set-up, ongoing use of the Bokashi composting system and trouble shooting.

Session 2:  Worm Farm Composting Workshop (30 mins)

Worm farming uses composting worms such as tiger worms or red worms to eat through a mixture of food scraps, garden waste, waste paper and cardboard to produce worm castings (composted material) and liquid fertiliser, known as worm tea. Both the castings and the worm tea are excellent fertilisers and great for the garden.

I will go through a step by step set-up, ongoing use of the Worm Farm composting system and trouble shooting.
